Cobbora Solar Project
Our project
The Cobbora Project includes a 700 MWac solar facility and a 400 MW / 1600 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), about 6kms from the village of Cobbora and 20kms south-west of Dunedoo on the corner of Golden Highway and Spring Ridge Road. It will connect into the CWO REZ at the Elong Elong Energy Hub.
It is located on the site of the Cobbora Coal Mine project, which was proposed for the area in 2014 but did not proceed. The solar facility will provide clean, cheap electricity for NSW and support the planned closure of over 3 gigawatts of NSW coal generators.

EIS update: July 2026
The Cobbora Solar and BESS Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) has progressed to the next round.
It is now at the assessment stage, following amendments made to the documentation based on input and feedback from last September's public exhibition period, and Government Agencies including Warrumbungle Shire Council and Dubbo Regional Council.
This is the next step towards receiving planning approval. You can view the Amendment Report and Response Report on the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI) website portal here.
